IMO It's definately possible to have 5.25"s with bass... Mid Bass. If you are wanting true "bass" then a sub would be required. In a lot of cases replacing factory speakers will make it sound better (although most new cars have decent speakers for most average consumers and are only missing the bass).

the best speakers that i have used are mb quarts. the bass response is close to a subwoofer on many of their 6 inch speakers.if u want decent bass response without subs, have a listen to the mb quarts, even the discus series perform well without subs. keep in mind, however, that you wont set any spl records with them.

it's 50% speaker quality... 50% installation. Unless you are gonna properly image your speakers.. and not just drop em in the door locations where the sound hits your knees or shins... I'd say your best bet would be to screw the rear speakers and get a component set (of fairly cheap quality) why waste good money when they will sound great in the store but like **** in your shakey resonant door panels. You said no more amps.. which means your best bet to get any power out of a component set would be to run the tweeters off the rear deck power and the midbass off the fronts.

k well thats just another expense so ill start saving(i dont make the big bucks any more) so to get things straight buy damping kit for doors. and no im not scaping the rear speakers cause im not going to make enclosures that stick out. for my front speakers(i already had one break in i dont need another)
