¿¿¿¿ SPL vs.SQ ???????????

RFL's cannot play music because the coil will not stay in the gap. Thus causing you to do many many recones if you try playing music through them. Plus with an Fs of 60 some odd hz, see what it will sound like to play music through that thing

If I've paid enough attention to detail here I believe you still haven't given out the make of your vehicle. The power that your vehicle is providing is a huge consideration. My Golf is giving my xtant 1001d 120 amps and that's just barely enough power.
I'm powering a Kicker S12L7 in about a 2 cubic foot squared vented enclosure and it's clean sound with disgusting power.
Buying this equipment used was pretty cheap (under 1000 CAD). Just make sure you consider you vehicle's power potential before you try to suck 2000-3000 watts out of it.
By the way, I absolutely love techno - Milk Inc. forever.

I also can attest to the strokers SQ ability.
When it comes to SPL, you can put a stroker in any big old box. For SQ, however, they get PICKY.
IMHO, the best SQ stroker is the SVC 4 ohm models. They have the lowest Fs, so when tuned to around 35-40Hz, they sound the deepest of all strokers. I haven't dabbled with the 18, and although I'd love to, I have used the 15's and they sound uber-awesome in a 4.5 cube box tuned to 40Hz with 48 sq inches of port.
And on the loud side of things? Well, with 40Hz tuning and 500 RMS going to it, no line driver, no dynamat, in a rattling hatchback -- 138 is not so bad, is it?
Really, guy. Have you been in a car that does higher than 135 db?

Its funny that you mention that because someone I was talking to awhile ago was trying to tell me that the strokers sounded great in the correct enclosure.
I never really took him seriously.
A friend of mine had a single vega series 12 in a medium sized ported box, and it was quite loud, but sounded pretty good. I know the strokers and vegas are designed quite differently, but I guess some SPL woofers can sound quite good if setup correctly. I guess the real downside is that you'll need powerful amps to get the woofers moving though.
