Enclosure help for single cab pick-up

Hey guys!

Do any of you have a good design or information on enclosures for sale that will fit behind the seat of a single cab pick-up truck? I have about 7 inches at the bottom and could possible do up to 4-5 midway maybe an inch more without sliding the seat way up.

I know futureshop sells a 10" truck enclosure for 79 bucks but being a contractor and seeing the 12 bucks in wood I find it hard to spend that when I can build it myself.

Any help would be awesome!

use this program to creat a wedge style enclosure. i would suggest a .8 cubic foot sealed enclosure for a 10" subwoofer. once you have you dimensions figured out, it'll take a bit of math to get the angle degrees for some of the cuts

ya its quite easy to use. make sure you use 3/4" MDF and when you input the dimensions, make sure its the outer and not inner dimensions.

also make sure that there is enough depth to mount the subwoofer.

Oh 3/4? Why so thin?

I would have thought 3/4 would vibrate a little to much, or is that of for just a small 10". I guess its more of a space saver?

I wasn't sure what I was going to use to be honest. I will for sure take your advice though and use the 3/4 since you more then likely know what your talking about and I sure don't ha.

I've been searching the net again and found some single cab boxes but they at under the .8 you suggested.

Does the port hole size make a difference? Should it be a certain size?

I'm going to home depot tomorrow to grab the MDF to start this project.
Ever heard of anyone rebuilding the center console and turning it into an enclosure?

Anything is possible. Its only dependancy is the amount of money, time, and effort you want to put into it.

I've seen a couple installs around with a console enclosure. A good friend of mine fiberglassed the entire interior of his 02 avalanche and redid the center console with a 12 inch sub. Looks so sick! I can get some pictures up if anyone is interested.

I built a sealed console enclosure for my Montana and it works well for me. Some bass cancellation in the middle row of seats, but that shouldn't be a problem for a single cab truck.
You should check the woofer mfg. website for enclosure volume specs. Some listings account for the woofers displacement in the box, some don't. But make sure you account for it in your design or your box may be too small.
If space is an issue, sealed boxes are smaller(.50ft3sealed/1.0ft3ported for my sub) and less complicated to build.
And port volume makes a huge difference, just adjust it on the box wizard and you'll see (RE Audio has one on their website too).
Do all the brain work you need to do before building because planning is much less painful than having to rebuild because it sounds like $#@* or doesn't fit.
Happy building! I'm jealous, I need a new project now. Maybe some kick panels...

I wouldn't mind going the console route since it would be nice to put stuff behind my seat if needed. The R/T has a thin console but its long. I doubt it will fit a 10 but possibly a couple 6.5" unless I can figure out a new spot for it.

Brendonius I would be interested in seeing those images you mentioned. I think it could help me out with putting design ideas in my head.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. This is my first venture away from 6x9's and I would like it to look and sound good. With all of your help I think this little truck will have great sound.

I should mention that I am simply going for great sound and not to shake the buildings around me.
