Event Feedback needed......
#1
Guys, we are already planning our shows for next year and we wanted to get some idea's and feedback from the people out there.
The main question I have is, would you rather have 5-6 shows (once a month) with smaller awards OR have 1 or 2 shows (one being a double or triple) and have larger awards ? Being a new business our budget is only so big so we only have so much to use for these events so we want to spend it wisely.
A large part of our shows is the show & shine that we hold also so we have to always consider both sides of the coin when doing things (the car audio people and the show & shine people) and find happy mediums for both knowing that not everyone is going to be 100% happy.
Any feedback you can give would be great.
One thing that I have heard and I need help from Andre's, Visions, AVU and NSAV is that we ALL try to get together somehow and discuss dates so that the local shows are NOT overlapping next year, while some shows pull larger then others when they overlap they are still not getting 100% attendance............I will have my dates for next year availible by Dec 05

i think that your idea is great. seeing as how you and i seems to be spearheading the sq revival maybe i'll call you and we can try to get our dates finalized so that ours dont overlap then we will have practically every weekend sewn up in advance. this really helps with promotion and organization

I would personally like to get an event going every weekend..... I know it's not good for the guys who can't always make every one of them, but then we can as SUX suggested have one or two of the shows bigger....

i totally agree, i wasnt exactly thrilled when visions announced a triple the week before our double 2 months after we announced our show. that the way it goes i guess, hopefully next year will be better
maybe we could set it up so there would be an iasca event(tim) one weekend then 2 weeks later a usaci event() culmninating with a unified western finals late next august or early september

it really is a communication thing. it is best to speak at shows about it. dave informed me about his show almost a year ago and that it wa gonna be in aug. visions sets thier shows early in the year. so an email to jody would solve that. most of all emails to ray choy(db drag), james c(usaci) and email to myself or moe(iasca) would definitley help out.it is a hard task to not overlap shows. but it is communication that is needed.
next year we are going to follow the dates set out by visions, and car toys and not over lap with those. we (as hz emall) will pos them early in the year.
but most likley 2 shows for us a spring kickoff and a fall wrap up.

Tim - why not hit up a couple of other indys to try to get a series of shows going? I know, most shop owners have their heads too far up their asses to realize the benefits but it couldn't hurt to see.
Better to advertise that there will be, say, 10 shows this season than 3 I figure.
Keep some basic records and then have a 2x or 3x "BC Finals" or something at a neutral location with a pre-requisite that entrants have to have been at one or two of the season's regular shows. I know a lot of guys have no reasonable dream of travelling to the southern US for World Finals but would work towards something local. Have highest seasons points totals an stuff like that to encourage regular show turnouts.

there are some new businesses that want exactly that to have abig *** show. Tim and I had started to talk about having one big show with a few shops involved. and coordinating that would be a massive but rewarding project. we started talking about it but it was too short on time.next year will have to be the date.
I dont want to just put on a show as that is easy. but the effort and time needed to make this happen is a true labor of love. kelowna seems to be a central location for SPLers and SQers. Kelowna is beautifull, has a lake and is in close proximity to allot of places.
Dave O has spoken to me to inform me about his next years show already and definitely a triple sanction triple point would be all the rave. if iasca and usaci can organize a uniified finals then so can western canadians. a db drag usaci iasca western canadian finals(3x) all the way.
having each sanction come out with all its guns blazing(trophies giveaways, etc) would make for one heck of a show.
but the wheels are in motion, it is being talked about and im sure that james c, dave o , tim b, team shadow, norman, ray choy, etc, can make one heck of a show happen. i can think or 4 shops that would partake in this monsterous event. and i can only imagine that 4 more would be icing on the cake.
