Thanks!

Econosound. Its right off of 42nd ave, paralell to Mac Trail. (look it up in the white pages) The used subs are ridiculously overpriced, but the amps and new subs are very reasonable. He has a HUGE selection, of brands that I still have never heard of and so on. The older guy "Senior" is very knowledgable, and a great guy. They do some wicked installs too, you should ask to see the Cadillac they have, wow... its like what you'd see in a magazine.

Good luck

There is a regional chain in Calgary that has/had a policy of offering (walking) the customer at a low margin above cost (usually 5 or 10points) if they did not buy an item they were interested in.

They would say something like "I dont know if I can offer you this price, but if I could, would you buy it" then they would quote you the low price.

This would be when you should pull out your cash and hold them to their price.

ARA Auto Accessories, Calgary.

"Tom at ARA" is my stereo d00d, I've been dealing with him for over ten years, both for my own stuff as well as for business. Him & his wife Kathy own it, there's no big corporate conglomorate like most shops. They're a good basic install shop, if you want something super-fancy, better to go elsewhere. They do tons of car starters, alarms, air conditioning, after-market cruise control, etc. But as a parts supplier, he's awesome, both new and used. They are dealers for Kenwood, Clarion, Orion, and a few others.

I've bought many stuff through them, including my recently warranteed head unit (see http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/ubb/...c;f=3;t=010248 ), my Clarion amp, all my 6x9's, and my sub and sub amp. Rod & Russ, the electronics techs there, have repaired many things for me and Rod even traded a V12 amp for an old Kenwood of mine as a favour. I gave him a case of beer and my old KW amp, and he gave me the V12. Nice.

GrizZz,

It is service like you are getting from Tom at ARA that builds a very strong clientele for a shop..

It is good to hear stories of a 'ma & pa' store making a living.....especially in a market like Calgary.
